New research set to boost search for commercially viable biofuels
The LEAF Project, launched at the University of the Western Cape this week, is bringing together researchers from the University of the Western Cape, the CSIR, Stellenbosch University and the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) to find and genetically map the enzymes that most effectively digest lignocellulosics as part of the process of producing ethanol for biofuels.

Sagadevan Govindasamy Mundree (known to many as Saga), was born in Durban in 1965. He graduated from the University of Durban-Westville (UDW) in 1988 with a B Paed(Sci) degree and began his working career teaching biology at Arena Park Secondary in Chatsworth.
